Patek Philippe made history in 1925 by introducing the world's first perpetual calendar wristwatch. They followed this achievement by launching the first retrograde perpetual calendar wristwatch in 1937 and became pioneers again in 1941 with the legendary reference 1526, the first perpetual calendar wristwatch produced in series. In 1944, they introduced the reference 1591, the first perpetual calendar wristwatch with sweep seconds, and began serial production of this feature in 1951 with the reference 2497. Patek also led the industry in 1962 with the release of the self-winding perpetual calendar, the iconic reference 3448, a milestone unmatched by any Swiss watchmaker for 16 years. Additionally, in 1941, they debuted the world's first perpetual calendar chronograph.
